Central, is one of many sites I utilize to promote Software and
Consulting Solutions for Business, with a focus on the Network Marketing,
MultiLevel Marketing, Direct Selling, or MLM Industries.
No matter what you tag your business model with, if you are developing a sales
force of independent representatives who may earn a revenue, based upon their
own sales and possibly upon the sales of others in their team, your Software and
Business needs are unique.
Other business models, such as Real Estate, Insurance, or even Car Dealers may
be considered 'Traditional' business models on the front end, while their sales
department is often structured similar to Network or MultiLevel Marketing.
Then you have Church organizations. While not a business model for the
purpose of generating income for members, the networking element is very
similar. Often times Christian religious organizations follow the method
of inviting others to join their membership. Those that join are often
encouraged to do the same... invite others.
Beginning in Spain, during the 1800's, then in the USA... a term 'Affinity
Group' came in to use. It's original meaning seemed to be more of a group
or organization of individuals with similar goals, but with no non-hierarchical
management.
In that sense, Affinity Group would not normally be utilized in the Network
Marketing, Real Estate, Insurance, or Religious group definitions, but several
years ago, the term began to be used a bit, as we actually view the members or
independent representatives as dictating their own time.
While the business model and benefits may be defined by a hierarchical
management, the individual members or sales representatives are autonomous, thus
leading to Affinity Group being a generalized term for these group models.
I do not choose to use this term often, but wanted to take a moment to mention
it for you to have a better understanding of the similarities of organizations.
